Arthur's 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7

This car was bought brand new and still lies in the originals owners hands. It was bought at the Lincoln Heights Ford dealer in 1967 and was driven around the Ottawa area until 1970 where it was moved to Montreal where it would begin it's resting period. When 2002 hit, the father / son team decided it was time to give this boy restoration. The plans are to install a 5.0L out of a 1989 Mustang LX, 5-speed and a set of 17 inch rims to give this cat a retro look.

The motor is a 5.0L fuel injection motor that was taken out of an '89 Mustang. The car was running a 14.1 in the quarter mile which made this a great candidate. The block and heads were sent to Actek Automotive to be machined. The block was bored .40 over and the heads we mildly machined. A E303 cam was installed with a set of Heddmen shorty headers along with a refinished upper and lower intake manifold. The transmission is a T5 that was rebuilt and had the ratios changed. With a new Performance racing clutch from Ford and a Pro 5.0 shifter should make this baby dance. As for suspension, we installed a full PST Super Ford front end kit with 3-way competition engineering shocks.

We are not to sure on what rear end setup we are going to use. There is a toss up whether we are going to keep the original or put in a 8.8 with disc brakes.
